Starting with the floor, the original floor was removed and replaced with a porcelain chevron from Artistic Tile.  The floor is heated and controlled through a digital thermostat. The bathtub was removed and was replaced with a spacious and modern walk in shower.  

The porcelain chevron was brought up on to one of the walls of the shower to tie the floor pattern together with the entire design.  The shower can be turned on and have the temperature set by voice commands using Amazon Alexa or the built-in shower control panel. Temperature is controlled using a thermostatic valve by Moen.  The shower is furnished with a matte black shower head and handheld fixture.  Storage is provided by built in niches.

To create a more open feeling to the bathroom, the typical option of a shower curtain was not used, instead a custom shower panel was built using glass and black metal.  The clear panels keep the space open and accentuates the modern feel of the room..

The vanity is midcentury-inspired and is built from walnut sat on top of a black metal pedestal.  The vanity has one large drawer for additional organization and storage options.  The vanity is capped with a white countertop with integrated sink. The touchless matte black faucet completes the look.

The medicine cabinet is recessed into wall with a built-in outlet for the Amazon Alexa controller.  This keeps the space free of any unnecessary wiring or clutter.  Niches were added next to the medicine cabinet above the toilet to maximize the space in the lower square footage bathroom.  The shelves in the niche are made of live edge walnut and neatly complement the vanity.

The bathroom is lit by a modern pendant, the lights are controlled by custom light switches by Buster and Punch, a London-based company.  Outlet covers throughout the bathroom are given the same treatment and really gives a polished look to the whole design aesthetic. 

For the walls and ceiling, three different methods were used to created the desired look.  Starting at the bottom, the walls are wrapped in a wainscot tile.  Moving up the walls were painted in a crisp white.  The ceiling was painted using Benjamin Moore Century Paint in a matte finish.  The overall effect draws the eye toward the ceiling instead of the walls which makes the space feel larger than it actually is.
